Flagstaff Mayor Extends Enterprise Closures Indefinitely Throughout Pandemic – KNAU Arizona Public Radio

Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans has indefinitely extended business closings due to the coronavirus pandemic. Their original proclamation said that Flagstaff's closure would end on April 1st. By extending the corporate order, Flagstaff will be placed under the order of Governor Doug Ducey to shut down companies.

All gyms, theaters and bars in Flagstaff were closed earlier this month under the mayor's original proclamation. Restaurants and restaurants are only allowed to sell food as take-away orders. Consumers can still buy drive-through groceries or have them delivered, but have a seat, dine-in services are currently banned in Flagstaff.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that Mayor Evans has now extended the store closings to hair salons, beauty salons and manicure shops. The order stipulated that these companies had to close at 8 a.m. on Thursday evening.

Grocery stores, grocery banks, and pharmacies can remain open in Flagstaff.

Republican Senator Vince Leach of Saddlebrooke issued a written statement in response to Mayor Evans' proclamation. He said it was illegal and not helpful. Leach said, “We plan to take this to the Arizona Attorney General to have it lifted. We stand ready to file a complaint of 1487 if necessary that could result in the loss of government shared revenue. "
