Flagstaff rescue crews keep in a single day on Mount Elden in injured hiker rescue name – ABC15 Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, AZ — Flagstaff rescue crews stayed overnight on Mount Elden after attempting a rescue on an injured hiker Thursday evening.

Flagstaff Fire Department says they responded to the call on Fat Mans Loop Trail at around 5 p.m. along with Superstition Fire & Medical District.

When they arrived on scene, they used information from the injured hiker’s cell phone call to 911 prior to his phone dying to locate him.

The patient was then located later that evening in an “incredibly difficult area to access,” with a severely broken ankle.

Due to high winds and adverse weather, the rescue was delayed until Friday morning. Crews stayed with the victim overnight until the rescue could be attempted in the daylight.

His injuries were treated on the mountain and when conditions bettered he was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center.
