Northern Arizona University's Civic Service Institute announced that it is changing its name to Center for Service and Volunteerism. "Our new name, the Center for Service and Volunteerism (CSV), better reflects the work we are doing to attract volunteers to critical needs across the Arizona community," said Erin Kruse, director. "Our programs serve communities from Yuma to Tuba City, Lake Havasu to Show Low and many more." Deidre Crawley, Senior Program Coordinator, added with the new brand: "We don't stop. We keep evolving."
The mission of the Center for Service and Volunteering is to be leaders in service and volunteering. CSV supports a vibrant and diverse network of individuals and partner agencies who are making an extraordinary impact across the state. CSV currently manages 7 National Service programs through AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps Seniors, and VISTA, including initiatives focused on education, food security, veteran and military families, aging on the spot, alternatives to pain management, environmental stewardship, capacity building and more.
CSV has been connecting Arizonans with service options since 1985. In addition to bringing together volunteer resources and agencies who benefit from their commitment, the CSV also hosts an annual GEMS event to recognize volunteers in Flagstaff. He is a certified service company of the Points of Light Foundation and offers non-profit organizations comprehensive training and coaching to improve their volunteer management capacity. "It has been a pleasure to be part of the Civic Service Institute and to work with the NAU community, volunteers, and organizations across Arizona. I look forward to the future of the Center for Service and Volunteering," said Mohave County Program Coordinator Heather Brassil. "The CSV's mission can grow exponentially across Arizona."
In 2020, 709 volunteers volunteered with 299 agencies across the state, assisting and assisting 41,291 people, and providing 264,948 hours through the center for service and volunteering.
